Founded in 1947 by David Ayres Jones, this Swansea-based
business has continued to grow and adapt to meet the dynamic needs of the
baking and food service industry. Now MONO offers clients a one-stop service
with all aspects of design and fabrication carried out at its modern premises,
using the very latest computer aided design and manufacturing technology.
In recent years the company has led the way in exporting to new markets in
Western Europe, Africa and the Middle East, forming strategic alliances with
local service back-up and business support.
MONO manufacture more than 80 per cent of the equipment it sells and the company
prides itself on its adaptability, enabling it to meet the precise needs of
clients and to manufacture plant and machinery to suit any specification.
It is this flexibility, combined with an experienced, skilled and motivated
work force that gives MONO the ability to react promptly and enthusiastically
to new ideas. As a result, the company has maintained its leading position
in the industry for more than five decades.
MONO Equipment is part of Ali Group - employing more than 4,200 people in
22 countries and, in terms of sales, is the largest European group in this
industry. It has manufacturing facilities in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Estonia,
Finland, France, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the
US, and sales and service subsidiaries in Europe, North America, Russia, Japan,
China, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. The Group emphasises the
engineering and development of state-of-the-art equipment, to meet and anticipate
changing competitive market demands. Group strategies and related functions,
including investment and capital allocation decisions, are performed at corporate
level.
MONO has created five specialist divisions to meet the diverse requirements
of a widening client base :
MONO Bakery Retail Equipment
MONO Bakery Equipment - the primary division of the business - has particular
responsibility for the provision of bespoke machinery for the small and medium
sized bakery business sector and for supermarket in-store bakeries.
MONO pioneered the concept of in-store bakeries, installing the first unit of this kind in the United Kingdom in 1960 and since then the name MONO has become synonymous with this type of installation.
MONO has established an enviable reputation for the consistency of its products and more than 1,000 in-store bakeries have been installed by its technicians to date.
Each division is geared to provide a seamless service to the client, anticipating and meeting every demand
MONO Foodservice
In an industry that it is continually changing MONO has succeeded in maintaining
its place at the forefront of equipment development. It is this vigilance
to the needs of the marketplace that has led to the design and manufacture
of a growing range of equipment used in the 'food on the move' sector, and
in convenience retailing.
In expanding this range of products MONO worked closely with a number of major petroleum companies in developing their forecourt shop catering equipment; with motorway services caterers; leisure groups and ferry lines. Special packages developed for these major clients have included complete bake-off systems.
MONO Industrial Food Equipment
This specialist division has been created to serve plant bakeries and specialist
food production companies. The division has an extensive portfolio of equipment
manufacturers for a wide variety of food production needs. The company has
sourced high quality machinery, as well as manufacturers around the world
- primarily from within Europe and the USA.
MONO Support Service
A global network of approved agents can guarantee that if any MONO machines
require servicing there will be the minimum of delay to the operator's business.
Every service agent is fully trained and carries an extensive range of spare
parts.
MONO has a variety of preventive maintenance contracts that can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual customer.
MONO International
MONO has experienced a steady growth in its export business over the last
quarter of a century. In recent years MONO has expanded its markets in France
and Germany and created new markets in Africa, the Middle East and Russia.
It is in the latter that MONO has had a pioneering role. Key
exports have been the company's confectionery depositors, deck ovens, and
its range of bake-off systems.
