SHEER INDULGENCE AND HEALTHY EATING IN THE NORTH WEST

On 4th and 5th March MONO Equipment hosted an exciting open-day event, at Miller’s Vanguard’s Training facility in Bury, to showcase some of the most innovative machinery currently available on the market that can be used to increase efficiency, productivity and, more importantly these days - profit.

The two-day event brought together, under one roof, some of the industry’s best known bakery equipment brands – Mono Equipment, Bakon Food Equipment, Rondo Doge and ingredients manufacturer Macphie.

The Sheer Indulgence and Healthy Eating theme was realised from Macphie’s vast range of ingredients to create a cornucopia of confectionery products aimed at these divergent markets.

One of the main attractions of the event was Bakon’s Ultrasonic Cutter which effortlessly cut its way through tray after tray of freshly baked custard slices, without the blade even touching the product, to produce perfectly-edged slices with minimum wastage.

Another attention grabber was Bakon’s Enrobing / Finishing machine which produced a never-ending waterfall of fondant icing over a constantly moving conveyor belt of Danish Pastries, traditional Custard Slices and Belgium Buns. The cost advantage of using this machine over hand-dipping thousands of confectionery items a week was commented on by more than one guest at the event.

Live Demonstrations Took Place Throughout the Day

MONO’s own star of the show was the Omega Depositor. The compact, beautifully engineered machine deposited muffins, cup cakes and biscuits with pin-point accuracy, all of which were later baked to perfection in MONO’s Deck Ovens. The ever-growing, and highly profitable, cup-cake business was probably on the minds of many guests when they saw the Omega in operation!

Probably the largest machine at the event was Rondo Doge’s Sheeting and Polyline which quickly and effortlessly sheeted the dough, filled it, rolled it and cut it into perfectly formed Cinnamon Danishes with just the touch of a button.

The informality of the event also meant that guests could try out some of the machinery for themselves and many took advantage of testing the quick and easy Chocolate Decorator on Éclairs and Swiss Fingers and the Jelly Glaze Sprayer on Fresh Fruit Tarts – both with excellent results.

The event was well attended by some of the larger high-street names looking for the latest cost-saving equipment and also some of the smaller independent bakers who were looking to improve their profitability by automating some of their current manual operations.
