With everything American eventually find its way to these shores it looks like our morning goods market is about to see the biggest shake-up since GI's brought donuts to Britain 60 years ago.
Delicious, hot, American style cake donuts with no mix preparation, no hot frying oil, no stale frying oil smell and no preparation skill required - these are just some of the benefits for 'Thermoglaze' operators when they install one of these new concept machines manufactured by the world's leading donut machine manufacturer - Belshaw, and marketed in the UK by Swansea based bakery specialists Mono Equipment.
The unique Thermoglaze system, which does not require a ventilation hood or a fire suppression system, comprises two linked components - the Thermolizer for thawing and conditioning pre-fried, frozen donuts, and the Thermoglaze for heating and glazing the product. One operator can produce up to 600 donuts every hour and donuts can be held in the Thermolizer for up to five hours allowing users to supply hot, fresh-tasting donuts to customers virtually on demand.
The wide range of frozen donut flavours and shapes available from product suppliers will certainly tempt the taste buds with, for example, cinnamon, lemon, chocolate and strawberry flavours available as ring, ball, whirl, finger, bar and knot shapes. These can be selected from the freezer and prepared in mixed batches as customer demand dictates. The glazing unit can also be swung away from the unit so that product can be processed without having to be finished with glaze.
Crucially, the Thermoglaze machine successfully addresses a common criticism of frozen donuts; that they have a stale taste and limited shelf life after they have been thawed. Frozen donuts reconstituted in the Thermolizer retain their moisture content and have a much longer shelf life than those that are thawed in ambient temperature. In fact, Thermoglaze donuts have taken the huge American market to the next level in donut preparation, while in the UK there is just no comparison; Thermoglaze donuts just look better and taste better. The machine is also very safe and easy to clean requiring minimum supervision, with pre-selectable settings so nothing has been left to chance.
Martin Jones Sales Director
reckons that there will be a lot of interest in the new concept machine from
the UK's large high street retailers. Martin stated, 'It's clean and safe
in operation, and a donut produced in the Thermoglaze doesn't look tired as
soon as it reaches the supermarket shelves. But, above all, because of the
revolutionary way the products are reconstituted and then glazed, they really
do taste 100% better than traditional donuts.'
